The World Wide Developer’s Conference—WWDC for short—is Apple’s annual platform to tell millions of developers and coders about its latest software innovations. With “Backstage,” Will Decher and I injected a rare dose of humor into the normally serious tone of the conference. Though it was meant to run just once, the film's buzz led Apple to make it available online for an additional 6 months after the conference. Since this film, Apple has turned WWDC intro videos into an annual chance for the brand to cut loose.
