Hollywood at Home

The latest installment in the Shot on iPhone series “Everyday Experiments.” The goal of these films is always to show that anyone can create beautiful and cinematic shots, using everyday objects and the iPhone 13. This year, inspired by the new Cinematic Mode feature, we went full Hollywood, but on a shoe string budget (for Apple at least). We shot multiple scenes, each focusing on different genres and different camera techniques.

The whole production felt like a student film; handcrafted set pieces, store bought materials, and cheaply made camera rigs to get creative with our shots. We used RC cars for our car chase scenes, produce and candy for our sci-fi landscapes, cardboard boxes for a city and of course, dogs for our monsters. We filmed most of what you see in a single room, but we did travel the long distance across the parking lot to Chiat to capture our chase scenes. I’ve never felt more like a kid while doing this job.

I’ve never felt more like a kid on set. Playing with remote control cars and eating more candy than I do on Halloween.

Special shout out to the guys at Incite for a flawless production. Nobody knows iPhone like those guys. Nobody.
